Make3D provides reverse engineering services in Singapore, turning physical parts with no drawings into editable CAD models you can manufacture, modify or 3D print. We combine professional 3D scanning, CAD modelling and 3D printing through our own machines and partner network, so a part can go from sample to prototype with one team.
How it works
Click through the steps, then drag the slider to see raw scan data become an editable CAD model.
Reverse engineering starts with an existing part and ends with a digital model. If a component is discontinued, the drawing is lost, or you want to improve a design, we capture the geometry with a 3D scanner and rebuild it in CAD as a clean, editable model rather than a rough mesh. You can then change dimensions, add features, send it for machining or moulding, or print a replacement. Whether the CAD output is a parametric model or a surface model is agreed per project.
Note: reverse engineering should respect intellectual property. We work on parts you own or have the right to reproduce.
Scanning is done with metrology-grade 3D scanners, chosen for each part’s size and detail. Prototypes can be 3D printed through our own machines and partner network, and Make3D is also the official distributor for printers from CreatBot, Mingda, HeyGears and others.

You receive an editable CAD model of your part, which you can modify, send for manufacturing or 3D print. If you need a fit check first, we can print a prototype. The exact deliverable and file format are agreed when we quote.
No. Reverse engineering works from the physical part, so drawings and the original supplier are not required. We scan the part and rebuild the geometry in CAD. Send us photos and the part’s size, and we will tell you whether it is suitable and provide a free quotation.
